Royal Oak Open Tournament

September 3, 2010 11:16 am

The annual Royal Oak Open Tournament was held from Aug 22-29th and with over 100 entries the event was a great success.
This year saw the introduction of a number of restricted events in both singles and doubles and this proved to be popular.  Players travelled from as far away as Queenstown to take part in the events on offer.  This tournament is usually played at the beginning of August and moving it forward the three weeks helped with the weather and only Sunday afternoon was really affected.  A big thanks to all those players who braved the conditions on the final afternoon of matches.
We must also thank our major sponsor Barfoot & Thompson – Royal Oak branch for their continued support.

Remuera Racquets Host Successful Grasshopper Tournament

August 17, 2010 4:52 pm

GrasshoppersRemuera Racquets Club held a successful Grasshoppers Tournament last weekend and despite inclement weather nearly 40 children turned out in force to do battle with each other.  Head coach of Remuera Racquets, Troy Turnbull, did a terrific job organising the event for the players who braved the elements to compete in the event.  Grasshoppers is rapidly gaining in popularity with kids, coaches and schools who find the smaller equipment, low bounce balls and smaller playing areas easier to play with.  Please see below a couple of photos taken on the day and congratulations to the club, coach and players for another successful Grasshopper tournament.
